How to Profit From Resale Rights Products

Beginning online marketers, after selecting a target market, often
struggle with what products to create for that market; and how.
Not only can it be a big task to plan, produce, market, and sell a
profitable idea, many parts of it can take skills and experience
beyond the level of an entry-level entrepreneur.
Resale rights products offer a great solution to this problem.
Marketers of practically any experience level can purchase the
rights to sell existing products. This creates sort of an “instant
business” — just add marketing and sales. ![]()
Even it were as easy as that sounds — and it’s not –
unfortunately, even this solution often comes with it’s own set of
problems.
For examples, there are marketers who sell the rights to their
products only after they’ve saturated the market with them. They
know, at that point, they can make more money by selling the rights
to others than by selling additional units of the product itself.
Additionally, it can be very difficult to know which resale rights
packages are a good investment; and which are just recycled junk.
Even after you successfully make a profit from resale rights
products a few times, it can be a constant struggle to tell great
offers from ones on which you’d be better to pass.
Another problem is finding ways to differentiate your offer of the
rights product from the other hundreds or thousands of people who
may buy the same rights to the same products.
OK, so I stated a problem, then presented a solution that seems
full of more problems. Anything else I can do for you today?
Just kidding. Yes, selling resale rights products does present a
new set of challenges. Luckily, solutions to those issues are now
at hand.
Find a Reliable Source of Good, New Rights Products
The issue of knowing which resale products are good and which are,
er, less good can be handled well by locating and working with a
few good, reliable sources of either original or recently released
rights products.
I can tell you that, once I found the two that I use most
frequently, my job has gotten a LOT easier.
Two of my favorites at this time are found here:

If you go as far as to build a relationship with these good
sources, you’ll also get an early-mover advantage when their next
product comes out — you don’t have to waste time thinking about it
because you already have a pretty good idea it’s one you’ll want to
promote.
Show Up; and Come Early Too
Any time you are reselling products that others also can purchase
and resell, you get a HUGE advantage by getting to market first.
Any resale rights product that is purchased by 500 people, likely
will actually be sold by less than 10 of those people.
So, simply by being one of the 10, you’ll be better than 490 of
your competitors. But be the first of those 10 to market, and
you’ll hold an advantage over them, as well.
Make a Difference
Now, let’s say that 10 marketers, including you, promote a
particular rights product. Let’s say you all pick the same price
and use the sales page and images that came with the product.
Will that cause anyone to buy from you vs. the other 9? Will it
cause any affiliates or JV partners to promote your offer over the
other 9?
No.
What you need to do is find ways to make your offer unique and have
it stand out from the others. Here are a few ideas; the more you
use, the more different your offer will be.
- 1. Combine multiple resale rights products you own the rights
to into one package. Check your licenses first; some products
limit or forbid this.
- 2. Add a bonus — could be your own report, a phone interview
you conduct and record that compliments the product, or anything
else that you have the rights to add.
- 3. Modify the sales page with a different header, custom
copy, etc.
- 4. If the product allows you to modify its contents, often
(but not always) known as private label rights, modify it as much
as you can to make it your own, unique product.
You can look for other ideas to make your offer and/or the product
more uniquely yours. Here’s an idea though. Come up with your own
way to personalize the rights product and then you’ve just about
guaranteed that yours will stand out from the others.
May I See Your License, Please?
One other thing about resale rights — always read the
license and be certain that you comply with it.
For example, some rights products grant you giveaway rights; some
don’t. The former make great items to include in packages that you
offer in giveaway events or as list bait — especially if you also make
yours unique, as mentioned above. The latter; not so much.
So, please be careful to check and honor the license for each
product.
There are many ways to use resale rights products to grow the
profits of your business. If you’d like to know more or you have
