Biggest internet Marketing Myths

Number one by far and constantly said “quick and easy” Building a business takes time, effort, knowledge, and determination. Some people get lucky in lots of things but if we could depend on luck we could just bet on a horse race whenever we need money.

Another big myth; ” work for just a few hours a week…” People who have busted their buts and worked many hours over years can work for just a few hours a week but often they are not the type of people to do that in the first place or they would have never gotten where they are.

Leave us not forget “Anyone can do this”. Truth is most people who try Internet Marketing fail, any many would never try. I will leave the why of all that to another post because there are many reasons for this.

“This is proof of how much I make doing exactly this” Frankly a lot of people exaggerate income, they refer to the total amount earned when in reality they still have to pay affiliates and other marketing and operating costs. Watch out for these claims. They are going to sell you some crap.

You need to know everything about marketing before you can make any money is a commonly held mistaken belief. If you just have a reasonably good marketing plan, something you know others have done successfully you can make money if you make it happen, When you see a good opportunity and implement it fast and well you will be growing your business.

“Avoid popular niches” Niches that are popular are so because there are buyers. If you get your site out there and work it all as best you can you can compete. This happens again and again. Of course there will be lots of work to build it.

Finally “Never before revealed secrets that will explode your income” There are no marketing secrets. There is a big discussion these days about the value of giving away good information. Mr. Wrigley of Wrigley’s gum fame gave something away with every order, back in the 1930’s. The book “Scientific Advertising” discussed this idea in depth and it was published in 1923.

Keep it simple and produce content, make things, build stuff, and stay at it is what succeeds. This is true in Internet Marketing and much of anything in life. Just because there are new technologies does not mean it isn’t marketing. People have the same human nature now as ever.

My one tip, trust your instincts.

I agree with you. I have been into Internet Marketing for six years, and have built this site 1st Marketing Targeted Traffic
It took over 5 years before I started to earn enough to live off it. And alot of hard work. Some people can do things a lot quicker. others may not do it at all. But I think you need to stick at things and keep learning. One thing i learn’t was good customer support and a good product were the two main ingrediants. The rest is just time.

Excellent article. I especially like the part about building a business takes time. It is so important for people to realize this and to understand that running an Internet based business is just that, a business.
