If you just have a couple projects get the Free Trial of Market Samurai. It gives the most data including competition.

WordStream has a neat niche keyword tool that returns a lot of results. You have to make an account and it does not show competition, I take the results (they email them to you as a csv file) and drop them into Market Samurai to get the competition.
