If you have been watching Camtasia videos online and are having the audio make a lot of odd noises that sound like chipmunks it is not because chipmunks are hiding nuts in your computer. Though it may be driving you nuts when you can hardly hear the video.
I found out it is from the newest Adobe Flash Player having some conflict with Camtasia.
So I had to find a fix for this. There is a fix for the video maker – http://videomarketingtactics.com/how-to-get-rid-of-camtasia-chipmunk-noises.html .
When I saw this video for the video makers fix he said it was happening in the newer versions of Adobe Flash Player. I experimented with a few older versions and found this fix worked.
Here are step by step instructions on how to fix viewing on your computer without waiting for Adobe and Camtasia to work this out.
How to get and install an older version 9 Flash Player.
Go to your control panel, add remove programs and uninstall the flash player there.
Then Go Here http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates
Download and run the Flash player Uninstaller.
This will uninstall the current Flash Player in the browser.
Yes you have to uninstall in both locations. Don’t ask me why, I didn’t write the stupid software.
Then go to:
Download the Flashplayer 9 Zip file, it has all versions of player 9
open the zip file then the 9r47 folder and run flashplayer9r47_win.exe
Then run flashplayer9r124_winax.exe from the 9r124 folder for your active x.
Chipmunks all gone. Just did this on Firefox 3 and IE 7 worked like a charm.

-This for windows, I am using XP. Should be similar for Vista
-If you use MAC and have chipmunks, write your congressman. No just kidding, Follow the same websites, uninstall and use 9r20 – mac version. Theoretically that will work. If it does please post so for the MAC users.
