Selling digital products directly from a wordpress blog is something I have only recently started working on. In the past I only put affiliate links. Selling my own products is something I am kind of new at focusing on, I have had a few attempts that I did not market very well in the past though.

The Thesis Theme has a nice no sidebar page template which lends itself nicely to sales pages. I like the no sidebar look for pages and find I can add really big videos like I did on the Free Stuff page.  I have a bunch of free marketing ebooks there and added some videos of Ana Free. That fits, to me, and she has a great voice.

So far I have a Products Page that I will be working on more and it has a subpage where I installed a salespage for my Find Profitable Niche Products ebook. That page can be refined some too. I tend to get things going first as best as I can with the time I have then refine it when I can apply more time.

I am researching the whole Sales Pages for WordPress idea and am finding various tools and themes and plugins that can be used in different ways. I only added a Google Checkout button for payments on the Profitable Niches ebook sales page. That will need to be upgraded probably though with Google Checkout people trust them and when I made the button there is a choice to say it is a digital download product and they ask for the download link so it looks like they will also handle fulfillment by sending a link to the download in the reciept email.

As cool as that sounds it is not really a secure and time constrained download. There is one plugin I have seen designed to protect product downloads, The WordPress Profit System Plugin. I am going to take a look at maybe using that one, it seems interesting.

There are a variety of themes and plugins available, almost too many, but I am better at research than I am at a lot of things so will be figuring out which are best. Subscribe to my blog if you want to follow developments as I will be making additional posts on this.

Clipmarks is a neat tool. You can clip sections you want to save from any site. Clipmarks will even put the clip into your blog, on facebook, or you use their bookmarking tools to save it.

Nice way to keep track of some of your important findings on the net. The items you save to get indexed by google and I have gotten some page 1 rankings with items I clipped.

The clips also keep active whatever links you captured.

I was at the really great forum today, the Internet Marketing Inner Circle. So I should first let you know this members only forum is part of a very useful set of information good for beginners or advanced marketers. This was started by Willie Crawford whom you may have heard of since he has been in this business 10 years. The membership is something I highly recommend for any serious marketer who wants to learn from some of the most successful people around.

Besides the large quantity of recorded interviews the forum is a place to learn. Today I saw a post by Kelly Conway at the Build My Web Empire Blog about how he pings links to posts created in places like digg to get additional links. I asked him how he did this and he was kind enough to share it with me so I bring it for my readers. If you haven’t subscribed yet I hope you see what you have been missing and subscribe.

Here it is step by step instructions

After you’ve bookmarked a link, say with Digg, you can go see that bookmark on the Digg site. While you are looking at the bookmark, copy the web address from your browser. It’ll be something like www.digg.com/your-digg-username/your-bookmark-title .

Go to www.pingomatic.com (there are others, but I use this) and do a new ping. Put the title of the post in as the title of the blog. I always have that match /your-bookmark-title from above, personally.

Paste in the Digg (or whatever) url from above in the 2nd line where it asks for the “Blog Home Page” .

The 3rd box I leave blank – it says it’s optional and I have tested putting anything in there.

Check all the top boxes or check the “default/common” option.

Submit the ping. You should see a page that shows you the result messages from all the services. “OK” “Thanks for the ping” etc.

I did a search the first time about CSS and must have bookmarked most the results. There were just a bunch of really great sites.

Alexa.com provides great search results because you can start with the sites which are getting the most traffic. Traffic is votes.

If you really want to focus in on a topic and get the best information right away these two sites will get you started at the top.

With as many sites as there are I just don’t want to spend too much time and have found this way to search most usefull for topics I really want to learn as much as possible about.
